A great feature on new campers is the Battery Disconnect switch. This allows you to “turn” the battery off without having to disconnect wires.
Here are 3 Tips you may not know about switching your battery on and off.
- Your battery is required (by law) – it’s necessary for the emergency disconnect braking system on the trailer to work.
- Your battery is “trickle charged” by your vehicle ONLY when the battery is “on” and
- Disconnect your battery – When you are storing your camper for longer than a week. Otherwise your Carbon Monoxide and Smoke detectors will drain the battery.
