A great feature on new campers is the Battery Disconnect switch.  This allows you to “turn” the battery off without having to disconnect wires.

Here are 3 Tips you may not know about switching your battery on and off.

 

  1.  Your battery is required (by law) – it’s necessary for the emergency disconnect braking system on the trailer to work.
  2.  Your battery is “trickle charged” by your vehicle ONLY when the battery is “on” and
  3.  Disconnect your battery – When you are storing your camper for longer than a week.  Otherwise your Carbon Monoxide and Smoke detectors will drain the battery.
